Silje Nergaard Trio

On 14 November 2026 the Silje Nergaard Trio will perform at the Kulturetage in Oldenburg. The Norwegian singer-songwriter has moved between pop and vocal jazz since the late 1980s and has gradually honed her sound in an acoustic, song‑oriented direction. With her debut album Tell Me Where You’re Going from 1990, whose title track she recorded with Pat Metheny, she reached an international audience. In the early 2000s, Port of Call and At First Light shaped her work with small ensembles; her collaborators have often included musicians from the Nordic jazz scene, such as Tord Gustavsen and Jarle Vespestad.

In the trio, Nergaard brings precisely this pared‑down format to the stage: songs that place the voice at the center, clear melodies and space for subtle nuances. Alongside her own compositions she also offers new interpretations of standards. In 2009 she explored orchestral colors with A Thousand True Stories and the Metropole Orchestra—without relinquishing her intimate approach. In concert she sings primarily in English, occasionally in Norwegian, combining Scandinavian tonal clarity with narrative songwriting.
