Hayseed Dixie bring their idiosyncratic mix of bluegrass and rock to Bremen. Since the early 2000s the US band has been turning hard-rock classics into acoustic, driving arrangements featuring banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bass — a sound they call Rockgrass. Between rapid picking and multi-part vocal harmonies they leap from AC/DC and Motörhead to Queen, putting familiar riffs through a new spin and slipping in original songs along the way. The result is dry, direct and delivered with a wit that quickly gets the crowd going. Anyone who wants to hear how well-known guitar lines take on a new life on stringed instruments, and how a country-like rhythm can suddenly carry rock energy, will find exactly that here — no frills, but with punch and impeccable timing.
