Info

Album release party for Coconut on April 15, 2026 at Le Ferrailleur in Nantes. The duo celebrates the release of their first album, Pour des Grands, with a set conceived for the occasion: they will perform as a quartet, supported by a wind section. Opening the evening, Mackenzie Leighton and Étienne Quenea will set a folk, intimate tone.

Coconut, a Nantes-based pop-folk duo, features two guitars and two voices. Their songs, informed by influences such as Andy Shauf, Hannah Cohen and Metronomy, rely on clear harmonies and sensitive songwriting. Between luminous ballads and subdued rhythms, they sing of everyday life, the early twenties and the questions that come with it, in an acoustic, organic approach closely tied to the nature that inspires them.

Mackenzie Leighton, an American singer-songwriter from Maine who has been based in France since 2017, carves a line between 1960s folk and modern pop. She embraces the legacy of Simon & Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell, carried by a delicate voice and an electric guitar that keeps intimacy at the fore.

Étienne Quenea, a singer and musician from Nantes, writes songs in French influenced by Albin de la Simone and Alain Souchon, as well as Adrianne Lenker and Andy Shauf. His lyrics observe everyday life, love and relationships, balancing sweetness with darker shades, with a restraint that leaves room for the words.
