Info
Arkansas-born songwriter and guitarist Jesse Welles brings his rough-edged indie rock to Massey Hall in Toronto on March 8, 2026. Active on the American independent circuit since the mid-2010s, he writes and performs under his own name as well as the moniker Welles, shaping a sound that folds grunge drive into classic rock heritage with a few psychedelic touches. Fuzzed guitars and melancholic melodies frame songs where a slightly husky voice stays at the center.
His 2018 full-length, Red Trees and White Trashes, released as Welles, condensed that palette across slow-burning ballads, heavy riffs and more pop-leaning hooks, in dialogue with 1990s indie rock. On stage, Welles favors a tight band and a direct, no-frills approach. The live set typically shifts between introspective passages and more abrasive bursts, a balance honed in clubs across the U.S., now set for Massey Hall, 178 Victoria Street, Toronto.
