Sebastian Marx

A New Yorker based in Paris, Sebastian Marx navigates between two cultures and turns that balancing act into lively, observant stand-up. His playground: language mishaps, French social codes seen through American eyes, urban life and the small bureaucracies of everyday existence. Alternating between French and English as the moment demands, he preserves the direct energy of New York stand-up while grounding it here, with a keen eye for detail that sticks.

He returns with a new show in rehearsal—still a work in progress. Concretely, he tests, trims, adds and rearranges. The audience becomes complicit in this moment when raw material is shaped into jokes, with new ideas born onstage. There’s no fixed format, just a constant back-and-forth with the room, where his expatriate perspective comes into its own.

Sebastian Marx will be at La Compagnie du Café-Théâtre in Nantes on March 18, 2026. It’s an opportunity to see the show before its final form, up close to the process and energy of stand-up.
