Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine, the project of American songwriter Sam Beam, plays The Avalon Theatre in Niagara Falls on May 10, 2026. Raised in South Carolina and first heard in the early 2000s while living in Miami, Beam has built a body of work that shifts from sparse, home-recorded folk to warmer, band-driven arrangements. The Creek Drank the Cradle (2002) set the tone with intimate guitar work and close-mic vocals; Our Endless Numbered Days (2004) tightened the writing and expanded the palette. With The Shepherd’s Dog (2007) and Kiss Each Other Clean (2011), the instrumentation broadened without losing the melodic core. Ghost on Ghost (2013), Beast Epic (2017) and Light Verse (2024) trace a line between acoustic folk, hints of soul and jazz, and songwriting focused on voice and harmony.

On stage, Beam moves easily between solo formats and small ensembles, reshaping early songs alongside recent material. Collaborations with Calexico, Ben Bridwell and Jesca Hoop have also fed his arrangements and stories, keeping attention on the guitar, the harmonies and the quiet pull of his narratives.
