Atlas, Finnish metalcore band formed in Nokia, brings its self-described northcore to Toronto as part of Orbit Culture’s Death Above Life North American Tour. Anchored in metalcore and threaded with deathcore punches, post-metal atmospheres and a distinctly Nordic melancholy, the group builds dense, low-tuned riffs and heavy rhythms under vocals that shift between growls and clean lines. Ambient layers and subtle electronics open space, keeping the tracks tense and cinematic without losing impact.
On stage, Atlas leans into the contrast: percussive breaks, dark melodies and broad, wintry textures. Since Primitive in 2018, then UKKO in 2021, the band has pushed its Finnish roots further, weaving in lyrics and motifs drawn from northern landscapes while staying firmly in a modern metalcore frame.
