Whitney plays Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal on April 19, 2026. The Chicago project led by Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek took shape in the mid‑2010s after Smith Westerns ended, with Ehrlich arriving from Unknown Mortal Orchestra. In the studio they write as a duo; on stage they open the circle with an expanded band, letting their indie rock lean into folk touches and a gentle soul feel.

Light Upon the Lake (2016) set the tone with Ehrlich’s falsetto, clear guitars and melodic brass. Forever Turned Around (2019) dug further into close‑up songwriting and soft textures. Candid (2020) reworked songs by others with a discreet, personal angle, and Spark (2022) nudged the palette toward a roomier pop while keeping that pared‑back, wistful core.

At Théâtre Beanfield, Whitney carries this arc live, moving across their catalog with a focus on melodies, harmonies and unhurried grooves. The expanded lineup lets the horns breathe and the rhythm section stretch, keeping the songs light on their feet while the arrangements stay precise.
