Info
Sudan Archives heads to The Great Hall in Toronto on February 2, 2026. Based in Los Angeles, violinist, singer and producer Brittney Parks shapes a sound where experimental R&B meets electronics, soul and violin patterns drawn from East and North African traditions. Largely self-taught on the instrument, she built her own language by layering voice, strings and rhythm, moving between song forms and beat-driven instrumentals.
Spotted by Stones Throw Records, she released a self-titled EP in 2017, followed by Sink in 2018, sketching a framework of looping violin, lean bass lines and vocal melodies that drift between spoken word, gospel inflections and alternative pop. Her first album, Athena (2019), opened toward broader vocal arrangements and longer structures; Natural Brown Prom Queen (2022) deepened the hybrid, switching between club-ready momentum, R&B ballads and near-folk fragments.
On stage, Sudan Archives moves from solo loop setups to fuller band formats, keeping a steady dialogue between electronics, Afro-diasporic heritage and intimate writing. See her at The Great Hall, 1087 Queen Street West, Toronto, Canada.
