Info
Bab L’Bluz sets Sahelian blues and Gnawa trance in dialogue with a psychedelic rock that nods to Santana, Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane. In Arabic, bab means “door”: the group opens several at once, between electric guembri, taut riffs and vocals in darija. Their sound navigates Gnawa rhythms, Hassani songs from southern Morocco and chaâbi polyrhythms, driven by a tight power quartet that goes straight to the essentials.
At the head of the project, Yousra Mansour, an Afro‑Moroccan musician, occupies a role often held by men and asserts a distinctive artistic voice. Bab L’Bluz is part of the Nayda wave, the Moroccan scene that draws on local heritage to speak about the present—its freedoms and tensions—in the language of everyday life. On stage, the band traces a hypnotic, organic line where groove prevails, without unnecessary effects.
Bab L’Bluz will perform at L’Avant Seine – Théâtre de Colombes, in Colombes, on 21 May 2026. Expect a blend of Maghrebi roots and rock electricity, conceived as much for collective trance as for attentive listening.
