Info
The Stranglers, formed in 1974, passed through punk without being confined by it. Their blend of razor‑sharp bass, acidic organ and dark melodies forged a recognisable identity, from the early Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black and White to signature tracks such as Peaches, No More Heroes, Golden Brown and Always The Sun. Six decades later, the repertoire lines up classics and surprises, ranging from hits to rarer pieces.
In 2024 the band celebrated its 50th anniversary with an intensive tour and a live release, Fifty Years In Black. Dark Matters, released in 2021, rekindled their studio momentum. On stage the duo Jean‑Jacques Burnel and Baz Warne lead the charge, supported by Jim Macaulay on drums and Toby Hounsham on keyboards, delivering a taut, precise sound driven by the signature bass and spiralling keyboard lines.
On 28 November 2026 at 6MIC in Aix‑en‑Provence, The Stranglers will present a set that runs through their history without heavy nostalgia, stringing together essential hits, forgotten gems and recent songs. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with a band that has managed to evolve without losing its backbone and to witness live the longevity of a catalogue that still speaks to the present.
