The Bouncing Souls
Opgericht in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1989, behoort The Bouncing Souls tot de punkscene van de Amerikaanse oostkust, op het snijvlak van melodische hardcore, poppunk en straatgerichte punkrock gedragen door collectieve refreinen. Lange tijd draaide de band rond Greg Attonito, Pete Steinkopf, Bryan Kienlen en Michael McDermott, later met George Rebelo op drums; het kwartet werd begin jaren 90 bekend met meerdere ep's voordat The Good, the Bad & the Argyle in 1994 uitkwam, gevolgd door Maniacal Laughter (1996), Hopeless Romantic (1999) en How I Spent My Summer Vacation (2001). Het geluid van The Bouncing Souls rust op korte nummers, een directe energie die voortkomt uit New Jersey-hardcore en eenvoudige melodieën, terwijl de groep haar onafhankelijke esthetiek behoudt. Tot de discografie behoren ook Anchors Aweigh (2003), The Gold Record (2006), Ghosts on the Boardwalk (2010) en Simplicity (2016), een parcours verbonden met regelmatige tournees en de Noord‑Amerikaanse en Europese punkscènes.
