Kenny Thomas

Born in Islington, north London, Kenny Thomas emerged in the late 1980s and established himself in the early 1990s within a British soul sound tinged with blue-eyed soul, contemporary R&B and pop-funk. After a first single in 1988 he drew attention with his cover of “Outstanding”, then followed up with “Thinking About Your Love”, “Best of You” and “Tender Love” — a repertoire in which melodic singing sits at the heart of smooth productions firmly rooted in the soul of the era. His debut album, Voices, was released in 1991, followed by Wait for Me in 1993, featuring contributions from Nu Colours and the Young Disciples. In 1992 Kenny Thomas was nominated for Brit Awards in the categories Best British Male and British Breakthrough. After a period of lower activity he returned with Crazy World in 2006 and Breathe in 2011. Since 2016 Kenny Thomas has also been the singer of the reformed group Living in a Box, taking on the role of frontman. In 2025 he released Unstoppable, produced by Opolopo, which includes a duet with Kim Wilde.
