Jeru The Damaja returns to Paris on October 16, 2026, at the New Morning, to bring boom bap back to the forefront. A key figure in the Gang Starr Foundation, the MC from East New York made a name for himself in the early 90s through standout appearances with Gang Starr and his early solo tracks, with direct rap, sharp phrasing, and lyrics that keep an eye on social issues as well as on how rap has industrialized.
His signature is also this historic link with DJ Premier: The Sun Rises in the East (1994), fully produced by Preemo, sets the scene with punchy rhythms, soulful and jazzy samples, and precise urban storytelling. He followed with Wrath of the Math (1996), still rooted in the East Coast, before charting a more independent path with Divine Design (2003) and Still Rising (2007). On stage, Jeru delivers this repertoire without frills, balancing 1990s classics with newer cuts, propelled by the raw energy of New York rap.
