Gold Panda returns with 'Ton Up', a stubborn new album released on June 26 at Studio Barnhus: eight raw dance tracks and two small, warmly intimate interludes worthy of a break in a service station, all conceived with the resolve of a producer who knows that 140 bpm is less a tempo than a way of life. Produced with Derwin Dicker's distinctive touch, who relentlessly pounds his sampler, the tracks on 'Ton Up' carry the raw sound of old-school hip-hop instrumentals, subjected to the crucible of blazing house music and ready to sow chaos on any decent sound system.
Here, there is no trace of that dreaded 'maturity' often demanded of electronic artists after several albums. On the contrary, Gold Panda seems more than ever in his element, pursuing with carefree abandon the physical joys of tension, rhythm, and repetition.
'Ton Up' is functional, funny, and surprisingly moving club music. Gold Panda will perform live at Hasard Ludique on November 5, 2026 at 7:00 PM.
