The band Dea Matrona lands in Melkweg, Amsterdam, on March 18, 2027, with their rock that leans as much on tight riffs as on strong songs. The trio formed in Belfast in 2018 around Orlaith Forsythe and Mollie McGinn, later augmented by Mamie McGinn. What started with street-side live videos gradually grew into a band that built its audience without detours: releasing music themselves, continuing to play, and each time dropping new songs that expand the story.
With For Your Sins (2024) they place all that earlier work in a clearer frame, without losing their loose, road-tested energy. Their approach remains primarily that of a band that puts the stage at the center: tight interplay, direct dynamism and a sound not tied to a single label. Expect a set that explores the tension between studio and live, with a focus on songwriting and drive, the kind you’d most like to hear in a venue.
