At 13, Chuck Strangers received an Akai MPC2000 and started programming beats as soon as he had a moment, not even knowing how to export them. Four years later, the discovery of FL Studio widens his playground, but the engine remains the same: a tenacious passion for hip-hop and the meticulous craft of looping. Born in Brooklyn, connected to the Pro Era circle, he has become known as much for his productions as for his rap with a calm cadence, anchored in a New York tradition nourished by soul and jazz as an undercurrent. With Consumers Park, he releases his debut album marked by the boom-bap that shaped him. On A Forsaken Lover's Plea, he becomes denser: more direct writing, melancholic atmospheres, and a sound enriched by collaborations, notably with The Alchemist, Animoss, and NV. A record that evokes 1990s New York without getting trapped in it, and above all opens up to introspection and the present. Chuck Strangers will perform in Paris, at the Pop-up du Label, on 28 November 2026.
