Dea Matrona is the story of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe, two Belfast musicians who first crossed paths as rivals, as teenagers, at a Gaelic-language singing contest. Very quickly, they find themselves outside, playing in the street, and that reflex never leaves them: to build a band capable of standing on stage, through gigs and independence, without waiting for a helping hand.
Driven by a genuine DIY ethos, they refine their edgy yet melodic rock throughout tours and self-financed releases. Their debut album, For Your Sins (2024), marks a milestone: No. 1 on the indie charts, airplay on BBC Radio 1, and visibility that takes them to both major festivals and opening slots, notably alongside The Beaches. In 2027, Dea Matrona comes to defend this road-tested journey on March 17 at Gebäude 9 in Cologne.
