La Sécurité (Montréal / Tiohtià:ke) is a punk-art collective that blends equally: bouncy rhythms, a jagged harmonic spectrum, and minimalist melodic phrasing, all filtered through an insomnia-inducing lens, the result of overexposure to the neon lights of the Quebec metropolis. Its music, at home on a dance floor, thrives when dynamited, preaching living dangerously. The lyrics, for their part, echo the Riot Grrrl movement and celebrate, among other things, the empowerment of women, friends (the kind as well as the mean), and kindness. Since its beginnings in spring 2022, the eclectic quintet has received invitations to SXSW, End of the Road, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn, and then FIJM, adding tours alongside The Go! Team (2024) and The Rapture (2025). After the release of the first album Stay Safe! (June 16, 2023), named on the longlist for the Polaris Music Prize 2024, as well as its offspring Stay Safe! Remixed (March 8, 2024), both on Mothland, the quintet unveiled the tracks Detour (October 22, 2024) and Ketchup (January 28, 2025), paving the way for a new influx of DIY tracks, this time also collaborating with Simon Raymonde's British label: Bella Union. The band again sits on the fringes of punk, new wave and krautrock, flouting stylistic formulas at every opportunity with the release of its second album Bingo!, slated for June 12, 2026 via Bella Union (world) and Mothland (Canada/US).
