Anvil's Pounding the Past tour arrives at Oulu's Tullisali on Friday, December 4. Also on the bill for the evening are Killer (BE) and Gobra. On the Pounding the Past tour, the band concentrates on songs from its first three albums.
Anvil began its recording career with the 1981 Hard'n'Heavy album, and true to the era, full-length releases followed at a rate of one per year. The debut and the following studio albums Metal on Metal (1982) and Forged in Fire (1983) brought the band to the attention of metal fans outside Canada as well. Metallica has stated that Anvil was one of the band's inspirations in its early days.
Gobra has been a Finnish melodic heavy rock band since 1985, whose music relies heavily on the 70s hard- and heavy-rock traditions. Over its career the band has released six full-length albums, an EP, and several singles on vinyl. Guitar harmonies and backing vocals are an essential part of Gobra's music. Gobra is also known as a live band, and the foundation for this was laid in the early days, when there were almost 100 gigs per year across Finland.
