On March 2, 2027, Hot Chip returns to the Bataclan stage with the edgy energy of A Long Way From Kansas. On this ninth album, Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Owen Clarke, Al Doyle, and Felix Martin let a rougher, more distorted vein surface, like a mirror of the turbulent times in which it was written. The title, a nod to The Wizard of Oz, tells of this long return toward a semblance of normality, while outside everything speeds up and blurs.
Without turning each track into direct commentary, the group embraces a dark backdrop, permeated by tension, decadence, and electronic pulses that strike as much as they unite. Formed in London in the early 2000s around the Taylor/Goddard duo, Hot Chip has built, album after album, an electronic pop that is as physical as it is melodic. In Paris, this new chapter promises a concert that plays on contrasts: lucid darkness, collective warmth, and their distinctive way of injecting movement where everything seems to freeze.
