Info
On Wednesday, February 24, 2027, at La Seine Musicale, John Scofield comes with his 'Combo 75' for an evening where the guitar leads the dance without ever neglecting the body of the groove. He first rose to public attention when he played in Miles Davis's electric band in the early 1980s, and since then Scofield has established a recognizable signature: an electric jazz that blends blues, R&B, funk and unexpected detours, oscillating between sharp phrases and taut lyricism.
Around him, a quartet that speaks the same language—the language of music rooted in American history yet open, vibrant, and ready to veer at every chorus. Gerald Clayton on piano brings his sense of bounce and harmonic color, Vicente Archer lays down a supple and precise bass, and Bill Stewart, a high-caliber drummer, shapes dynamics to the millimeter. Together, they build a set where writing is as important as improvisation, with Scofield's unmistakable way of propelling the swing from its edge and turning each theme into a collective playground.
