A traveler and dreamer, Sohella draws her inspiration from her many journeys, from Mali to Kenya, via China, Mongolia, Siberia, the United States and the Caribbean. There she builds a singular universe, weaving French songs, pop-folk, blues and Afro-pop influences, occasionally punctuated by Russian flourishes in a nod to her origins.
Influenced by Brassens, Cabrel, Mano Solo, Tracy Chapman, Ben Harper and Ayo, she is also deeply influenced by gospel, which she has practiced for more than ten years alongside Georges Seba, the Gospel Choir of Paris, Eternity Gospel Choir and New Gospel Family.
With a mid-range, mature vocal timbre, she now shares the stage at Le Baiser Salé with guitarist and singer Vincent Faucher and bassist Thierry Fanfant, musicians on the French and international scene, who have numerous recordings to their name. Their chemistry yields warm and spellbinding music.
