Info
On February 18, 2027, Beth Orton will visit Kulturkirche Köln—and bring with her exactly the mix that has distinguished her since the 1990s: intimate folk songs that naturally lean into electronic textures and downtempo rhythms, without getting lost in them. Orton writes directly, but not slickly, with restrained arrangements, acoustic guitars, and a voice that often sits lightly hushed over the song. In her repertoire, the early folktronica moments of Trailer Park and Central Reservation meet the more focused, organic side from later phases, up to the openly produced, more synthetic colors of her newer work. Live, this means: songwriting at the fore, plenty of space between the notes, and a set that treats folk, indie, and electronic not as a stylistic exercise, but as a language for stories and moods.
