Info
On March 8, 2027, La Roux will touch down at The Melkweg in Amsterdam for a show that centers on tight synthpop and new wave with a clear nod to the 1980s. The project of singer and songwriter Elly Jackson is known for sharp, glossy synthesizer lines, danceable rhythms, and that distinctive high, androgynous voice that shifts effortlessly between cool and urgent. Live, you can expect a set that brings together the different phases of La Roux: from the fresh, angular sound of the debut La Roux to the warmer, groove-oriented direction of Trouble in Paradise and Supervision. Also the club-edge they’ve sharpened over the years through remixes and collaborations with names like Major Lazer, New Order, and Chromeo fits seamlessly into such an evening. A concert for those who like to move to both melody and beat, without it becoming slick.
