Info
On May 7, 2027, at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, Fontaines D.C. bring their Dublin-bred tension and sharp writing to the stage. Built on Grian Chatten’s clipped, narrative vocals and a twin-guitar attack that can switch from abrasive jabs to wider, moodier stretches, the band has kept expanding its post-punk frame over the years. Expect the tight rhythmic push that made them stand out early on, but also the darker, more spacious turns they’ve leaned into since Skinty Fia and the more open textures introduced around ROMANCE. Live, that mix hits like a set that moves fast, breathes when it needs to, and keeps the lyrics front and center.
Opening the night, UK quartet Westside Cowboy lean into their self-styled “Britainicana”: indie rock grit with country-folk angles, big melodies, and choruses that land without polishing away the rough edges. Their songs thrive on collective playing and taut guitars, the kind of material that’s made them a natural fit on shared bills with the new wave of British guitar bands. A solid warm-up before Fontaines D.C. take over.
