Info
Superforma presents Safia Nolin.
For the first time since 2016, Safia will take the stage at Scarron on Saturday, April 3 at 8:30 p.m. to deliver pared-down versions of the Quebecois classics she has been performing for nearly a decade. In folksy renditions, often but not always sad, it will be an introspective journey through Quebec culture guided by a millennial who is a fan of pop, nostalgia, and melancholy.
Safia Nolin, a singular figure on the contemporary art scene, embodies a clearly articulated political voice. Her journey is that of an identity quest, an exploration of difference and marginality. As a racialized woman, a lesbian, and artistically non-conforming, she challenges norms and societal expectations. Her aesthetic, at once raw and poetic, is a celebration of imperfection and authenticity.
