"Uhhh, we'll be there in a bit" is the next edition of Sameheads-Regular, Levente, featuring two important artists from Europe’s bass scene.
Rhyws's music is like liquid mercury in a petri dish – smooth, fluid, and playfully unruly. He has released mainly on Fever AM, the label he founded in 2017 with Mor Elian, as well as on labels such as Avian, Modeselektors SSPB and Voam. In the studio or behind the decks, he blends different strands of contemporary techno and broken beat: reduced tracks with modular elements, interwoven kicks with rolling grooves, and precise sound design with deep bass. It is a versatile sound that can migrate into other spaces while remaining connected to the dancefloor.
The Rotterdam-based DJ Samira plays bass-heavy club music, breaks, and darker electronic tracks. She is a resident DJ at Operator Radio, where she hosts a monthly show. Her sets are raw, rhythmic, and direct, but can also shift into downtempo areas.
In today's digitally shaped era, the temptation is great to fill the dancefloor with euphoric moments and rapid effects. Levente, on the other hand, builds a broad musical spectrum from different styles and eras, creating a closeness to the audience that goes beyond the next drop. With a keen ear and an open mind, Levente combines structured rhythms, non-Western percussion, various broken beats, UK bass, Balkan folk as a nod to his Carpathian roots, and club sounds, remaining present in Berlin and beyond.
