On November 26, 2026, at the Opéra de Limoges, Erik Truffaz and Antonio Lizana reunite around a common thread: the jazz-imagined Spain. The starting point they embrace is Sketches of Spain, the album in which Miles Davis threw open the doors, blending folklore, flamenco and orchestral breath. Truffaz, a leading figure of European electro-jazz, brings his supple trumpet and a taste for amplified textures; Lizana, Andalusian saxophonist and singer, introduces cante and rhythms of the south into improvisation.
On stage, their dialogue unfolds as a back-and-forth between taut melodies, modern pulsations and flamenco-inflected accents, carried by an ensemble where flamenco guitar, electric bass, drums, percussion, bass clarinet and English horn mingle, along with dance. A contemporary re-reading, balancing respect for roots with freedom of play, transforming these 'sketches' into living matter.
