On April 30, 2027, Richard Thompson brings his songs and guitar work to Bristol Beacon. Born in London in 1949, he first made his name with Fairport Convention at the turn of the late 60s British folk-rock wave, before stepping out in 1971 to follow his own path. That solo catalog moves easily between intimate acoustic ballads and plugged-in rock, often reshaping English-language folk into something sharper and more personal.
Onstage, the focus is on his writing and that melodic, distinctive guitar style that pulls from folk modes but also from rock and country phrasing.
