On September 23, 2026, three heavyweight instrumental acts land in Bitterzoet, Amsterdam: Blockhead, ProleteR and Arms and Sleepers. For this tour, there will also be new material in the set, and a collaborative track created especially for the series will surface.
Blockhead, the New York-based producer Tony Simon, arrives with his cinematic approach to beat-making: sample collages, slow or broken rhythms, and that typical melancholic glow between instrumental hip hop, downtempo, and trip-hop. Expect a set that cuts across his entire career, from the early Ninja Tune years to more recent work, and the link to rap via collaborations such as Garbology.
ProleteR (Benjamin Roca) brings French swing-hop to the fore: vintage jazz and soul flourishes, boom-bap drums, and a warm electro-soul punch. His tracks move smoothly between nu-jazz and hip-hop, with that DIY vibe and a groove that feels at once retro and tight.
Arms and Sleepers, the Berlin-based project of Mirza Ramic, slows the tempo and opens the mood: trip-hop, ambient and post-rock influences with subtle hip-hop rhythms and hazy textures. Ideal to lose yourself in, especially live where the details and build-up do the work.
