Les Femmes s'en mêlent: Death Valley Girls + Bella & The Bizarre
Since 1997, the itinerant festival Les Femmes s'en mêlent has highlighted artists from alternative music scenes. Long before debates about gender parity, Les Femmes s'en mêlent (LFSM) was from the outset a response to the underrepresentation of women in most festivals, becoming an international event defending the music created by women artists.
LFSM, strong in its history, wishes to continue offering programming alternatives by supporting artists in their career development, through concerts across France, while promoting gender equality and the visibility of LGBTQIA+ artists in contemporary music with its action program Les Femmes s'engagent (workshops, conferences, meetings, screenings and debates).
With more than 700 women musicians and composers programmed since 1997, Les Femmes s'en mêlent has helped reveal figures such as Christine and The Queens, Cat Power, Jeanne Added, Émilie Simon, Soko, Yelle, Regina Spektor, Nouvelle Vague, Daphné, La Grande Sophie, Corine, Austra, Courtney Barnett, Irène Drésel, and has given rise to rare moments, such as the onstage meeting of Kim Gordon and Brigitte Fontaine, or Feist's and M.I.A.'s first French concerts.
For this stop at L'Espace Buisson in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin on 11 November 2026, the Californian band Death Valley Girls delivers psychedelic rock with proto-punk accents, while Bella and the Bizarre, from Berlin, revisits garage rock, 1960s rock'n'roll and surf.
