Info
On 12 November 2026, Mammal Hands will bring their instruments to the Espace Culturel François Mitterrand, in Canteleu, for a concert in constant motion, somewhere between contemporary jazz and repetitive music. Born in Norwich in the early 2010s, the trio brings together Jordan Smart on saxophone, Nick Smart on piano, and Jesse Barrett on drums and percussion. On stage, their strength lies in balance: piano motifs that spin and transform, melodic sax lines, cyclical rhythms that establish a soft trance, with a real space left for improvisation.
Signed to Gondwana Records, they have built their artistic identity album after album, from Animalia to Gift from the Trees, by shaping textures and collective dynamics, with influences ranging from spiritual jazz to minimalism, including pulsations inspired by non-European traditions. Expect dense but accessible instrumental music, unfolding in waves, playing with contrasts and carrying you along without forcing it.
