Info
On December 8, 2026, Sam Shackleton brings his acoustic folk set to Bush Hall in London, with a show built around voice, story, and that sense of songs being passed down rather than “performed.” Raised across Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands, he works in the tradition of Scottish oral lore while naturally opening it up toward Ireland and the US.
Also known as Sorley the Bard, Shackleton moves through traditional ballads, old-time, country and blues without turning it into a genre exercise. Expect a mix of personal writing and reworked ancient songs, delivered with the directness of the 1960s folk revival but grounded in deep knowledge of the repertoire. His background in Scottish ethnology and folklore gives the set an extra layer: you can hear the pull of collective memory, the landscapes, and the everyday narratives that keep these songs alive.
