Info
On May 8, 2027, Joshua Burnside brings his experimental take on folk to Band on the Wall in Manchester. Raised between the drumlins around Strangford Lough and the backstreets of East Belfast, the Belfast-based songwriter and producer has built a sound where Irish traditional song meets alternative electronica, found sounds, and unorthodox studio craft. On stage, that mix can swing from stripped-back fingerpicking to hazier textures and tense, restrained beats, always with a sense of movement and friction.
This show sits in the wake of his fourth album, It’s Not Going To Be Okay (2026), written after the death of his close friend Dean Jendoubi. The record traces a line between grief and acceptance, carried by raw, direct lyricism and Burnside’s signature experimental production. Expect songs that dig into family, trauma, and renewal, with that post-conflict Northern Irish backdrop never far away, plus material from earlier releases including Teeth of Time (2025).
