Modern Woman is a London-based art-rock and post-punk outfit fronted by primary songwriter and vocalist Sophie Harris. The group originally started out as a solo project for Harris's spoken-word performances before evolving into a full four-piece band.
The band blends post-punk, avant-garde, and '60s folk traditions, contrasting soft folk lyricism with harsh, discordant noise. Critics have compared Harris's unpredictable vocal delivery to artists like Siouxsie Sioux, Kate Bush, and Patti Smith.
In May 2026, Modern Woman released their debut studio album, Johnny's Dreamworld, through One Little Independent Records.
