Agnes Obel comes to TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht on 29 September 2027 with her idiosyncratic mix of chamber pop, intimate folk and classical accents. Do not expect a grand gesture, but songs built around voice and piano, with strings moving through the melodies as a second breath. Since Philharmonics, she has shown how much tension can reside in restraint: slow lines, layered harmonies, and a mood that is just not entirely graspable. Aventine pushes those string textures even more to the fore, while Citizen of Glass plays with transparency and identity without relinquishing minimalist repetition. In Myopia, everything revolves around circling piano motifs and vocal layers that intertwine with each other and then drift apart again. Live, Obel translates that into a chamber-music setting: precise, restrained and cinematic, with room for silence and detail.
