Info
On September 21, 2026, Maruja lands at London’s 100 Club for the 50th Anniversary of the Punk Special, bringing their Manchester-bred collision of post-punk bite, noise-rock heft and tense, dark jazz. Built around a tight core of guitar and rhythm section, with a saxophone that slips from sharp hooks into near-improvised bursts, their songs tend to move like pressure systems: repetitive riffs, heavy bass lines, and vocals that are more spoken or chanted than sung, pushing themes of social strain, city anxiety and political friction.
After carving their name into the UK’s independent circuit in the early 2020s and sharpening their sound on releases like the 2023 EP Knocknarea, Maruja’s focus has stayed firmly on what happens onstage. Expect long, escalating builds, abrasive textures that open into more atmospheric passages, and a collective live presence designed to hit as physically as it sounds.
