Formed in Los Angeles in the early ’90s, Dogstar sit right where alt-rock meets post-grunge, with a straightforward trio setup and a taste for melodic, mid-tempo drive. Built around Bret Domrose (vocals/guitar), Keanu Reeves (bass) and Robert Mailhouse (drums), the band leans on saturated guitars, tight rhythms and a writing style that keeps things direct without losing that slightly melancholic edge.
After making their name through club shows and touring across North America and Japan, Dogstar released Our Little Visionary (1996) and the Quattro Formaggi EP, then followed with Happy Ending (2000), pushing their power-pop instincts through a heavier, late-’90s rock lens. After a long break, they’ve been active again in the 2020s, reconnecting with the road and new material. Their 2023 album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees picks up the thread with the same no-frills, bass-guitar-drums punch. Catch them live on September 17, 2026 at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver.
