Tengu x Supper presents: Magda

Tengu links with Supper to invite minimal house pioneer Magda for her Tengu debut and her first Dublin club show in over 13 years.

Poland born and Detroit raised, Magda has soaked up a culturally wide perspective, seeing beauty and potential in the most derelict and depressed of places. With beginnings partying in Detroit, it wasn't long until Magda was fully immersed in the city's underground scene. In 1998, she was dropped straight into the deep end as she began touring with Richie Hawtin. Since then she has forged her own path with a demanding touring schedule.

She's proved herself as a selector, with a knack for bringing contrasting tracks together in unexpected ways. Notable mix accolades include the Essential Mix, Timewarp, Fabric and her "She's A Dancing Machine", released in 2006 on Minus. It intricately layered 70 tracks into 16 sections and displayed a high level of energy for a minimal DJ mix.

Though solo Magda releases are relatively rare, her ability extends beyond the booth to the studio. In 2010, Magda released her debut on Minus, "From The Fallen Page", combining Detroit techno and straight-forward dancefloor functionality into a body of work that still sounds fresh today. Collaboration has become a vital part of Magda's work, having worked with "Cornerbred" collaborator Daniela Huerta and also remixed for Plastikman and Depeche Mode.

On top of all this, Magda has proved herself as a label boss, running the long-standing Items & Things imprint with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce. The label thrives on the off-kilter and the avant-garde, unearthing new artists and sounds that push boundaries. Thirty releases in and Items & Things count the likes of Jimmy Edgar and Rework amongst its roster.
