Syd Matters, the indie-folk project led by Jonathan Morali, returns with songs that are as much a murmur as a surge. Since his early-2000s debut, he has built an indie pop infused with folk, with melodies in a light-and-shadow chiaroscuro and hazy arrangements, carried by a warm, intimate voice. Here you’ll find that immediate writing, able to linger in the mind without ever forcing itself, and tracks that have become familiar to many, from Black & White Eyes to Obstacles, To All Of You or I Might Float.
On stage, Syd Matters plays on the tension between acoustic fragility and rising intensity, with an energy that settles in slowly and then takes full hold.
