Dea Matrona arrives in Nantes, at Le Ferrailleur, on March 23, 2027, with road-worn, independence-fueled rock. Originally led by Orlaith Forsythe and Mollie McGinn, the project grew in DIY mode, through relentless gigs, self-financed releases and tight, live-focused songwriting. Their debut album For Your Sins (2024) marked a turning point, straddling indie recognition, BBC Radio 1 airplay, and major stages—from Glastonbury to opening slots that accelerated their trajectory.
In their sound, there’s an openly acknowledged nostalgia, somewhere between hazy choruses and direct energy, with echoes of Fleetwood Mac or The Cranberries without slipping into imitation. The lyrics, for their part, stay firmly rooted in the present: doubts, impostor syndrome, diffuse anger toward the world. Written and recorded on the road, sometimes at the back of a van, their songs turn all that into taut, tense tracks that are above all meant to be sung loudly in a venue.
