On September 18, 2026, Jeru The Damaja delivers his rhymes at The Starlite Room in Edmonton. A key figure in the Gang Starr Foundation, the Brooklyn rapper (East New York) left a mark on the 1990s with a dry, no-frills boom bap, a precise flow and lyrics often oriented toward social issues, far from polished, mainstream rap. Brought to prominence through appearances alongside Gang Starr, he quickly established himself as a solo artist with The Sun Rises in the East, entirely shaped by DJ Premier, then followed with Wrath of the Math, in the same East Coast vein: rugged beats, soulful and jazz samples, urban storytelling and a critical view of the industry. Since then, Jeru has continued his path as an independent artist, between records, collaborations and live performances, maintaining that direct, old-school approach to rapping, but never frozen in nostalgia.
