If you know Ezra Collective on record, you already know that their thing is movement: a contemporary, highly collaborative jazz that moves effortlessly from post-bop to funk, from Afrobeat to hip-hop, with dub and Caribbean echoes. Born in the London scene around Tomorrow’s Warriors, the quintet led by Femi Koleoso (drums) advances with a genuine groove science, powered by TJ Koleoso on bass, Joe Armon-Jones on keyboards, Ife Ogunjobi on trumpet, and James Mollison on sax.
After You Can’t Steal My Joy and the momentum built with Where I’m Meant to Be, their music has continued to push the boundaries, between taut instrumentals and formats closer to singing or spoken word, up to Dance, No One’s Watching. On 19 March 2027, Ezra Collective will turn up the heat at the O2 Academy Brixton in London, with that live sensibility where everything can drift, respond to one another, and restart, without losing the thread.
