Radical, ingenious and complex, as if it were a joyful game, the singer, rapper and producer creates a whirlwind of styles and references that range from his birthplace of Nairobi to his current residence in Berlin, from French Baroque music to film scores, rock, hip hop and pop. All of this is jarring, and at the same time makes sense when he lets a wide variety of musical, cinematic and pictorial influences intensify within his complete work of art in pop culture. 'I should bite a little into people's ears,' he says, affable in conversation and furious on stage. Exploring ideas of beauty, pain, and identity, Kabeaushé pushes boundaries as much as the title of his second and most recent album: 'KABEAUSHÉ PRESENTS: IGGY SWAGGERING UNGRATEFUL INCESSANT LITTLE PEEEAAAAAAAA'.
Kabochi Gitau, his real name, created Kabeaushé to live, explore and savor his art in all its facets. It is a constant process. And from this universe Kabeaushé has emerged in recent years a character who now dominates the current album with a sarcastic force: Herr Iggy, leader of the fictitious empire The Kingdom of Doerf. His people want to overthrow this egotistical despot, but he clings desperately to power. In songs and videos, Kabeaushé narrates the story of Iggy's rise and fall.
