Ed O’Brien, guitarist and songwriter for Radiohead, will visit SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen on 14 October 2026 with his solo work. While in Radiohead he is often the man of textures, layers and counter-melodies, live he channels that same love of timbre into songs that balance between alternative rock, atmospheric pop, and a subtle ambient sensibility. Under the name EOB he released Earth in 2020, an album shaped by his time in Brazil, where melody and rhythm are given more room without relinquishing the richly detailed production. In 2026 the follow-up Blue Morpho will appear, this time simply under his own name, and that is immediately the logical throughline for this show: songs that breathe, carefully built, carried by guitar work that paints rather than flaunts, with that recognizable voice and harmonies that you also know from his band work.
