As It Is will arrive at the Limelight in Belfast on September 15, 2026, with their pop-punk tinged with emo and alternative rock, designed for choruses that stick to the skin and for verses that tighten the throat a little. Born in Brighton in 2012 around lead singer Patty Walters, the band first made a name for itself with a string of self-produced EPs before stepping up to album-length releases with Never Happy, Ever After, and Okay., two records that establish their sense of melody and lyrics centered on doubts, relationships, and what cracks.
With The Great Depression, As It Is darkened the palette by tackling mental health head-on, pushing the sound toward more post-hardcore angles and a more theatrical delivery. Now centered around Walters, Ronnie Ish (guitar) and Alistair Testo (bass), the band continues to alternate between high-energy, front-facing moments and heavier passages, in the vein of I Went To Hell And Back (2022). On stage, this translates into a no-frills set, where the voice leads the charge and every surge in intensity lands just right.
