On October 28, 2026, at The Palace Theatre in Calgary, Free Throw and Microwave team up for a co-headline night built on emo urgency and indie-rock grit.
Free Throw, formed in 2012 around vocalist-guitarist Cory Castro, comes out of the Nashville DIY circuit with a sound that sits right between pop-punk drive and emo confessionals. Their songs hit fast, then pull back into more reflective turns, always carried by sharp guitars and lyrics that deal with growing up, mental health, addiction, and the messy in-between. Across releases from Those Days Are Gone to Lessons That We Swear to Keep, they’ve kept that balance of nervous energy and big, singable hooks.
From Atlanta, Microwave brings a darker, heavier edge, mixing alternative rock, emo and post-hardcore tension. Led by Nathan Hardy, the band builds tracks around abrasive riffs, sudden dynamic shifts, and an introspective writing style shaped by anxiety, relationships, and personal history. From the raw punch of Stovall and Much Love to the weightier tones of Death Is a Warm Blanket and the newer colors on Let’s Start Degeneracy, they’ve made contrast their signature.
Opening the night, Philadelphia trio Carly Cosgrove adds a math-tinged emo-pop-punk twist: twitchy rhythms, melodic lifts, and everyday-life storytelling, the kind that sticks after the chorus fades.
