On December 1, 2026, Matthew and the Atlas will take the stage at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen as part of the 'Temple 10th Anniversary Tour'. The artist behind the name is the English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Hegarty, who emerged in the late 2000s in the wake of the British folk revival. What began as a spare, acoustic approach with guitar and banjo has grown into a band sound in which intimate songs have increasingly room to breathe.
This tour centers on Temple, the album that broadened Matthew and the Atlas's folk-rock into wider indie-folk and indie-rock textures: warm, melodic, and with arrangements that sometimes breathe a bit more than the campfire setting. Live, you can expect a set that marries the contemplative feel of his early EPs with the broader sonic world of his later work, with that deep voice as a constant and songs that linger somewhere between English folk, Americana, and atmospheric pop.
