On 17 August 2026 at Rum Runners in London, Canada, Madball bring their New York hardcore to the stage. Born in the late 80s in the orbit of Agnostic Front, the band forged a compact, no-frills strain of hardcore punk built on metallic riffs, heavy breakdowns and lyrics rooted in street life, loyalty and collective grit. From early EPs to cornerstone albums like Set It Off and Demonstrating My Style, their catalogue traces a path that never strays far from the core NYHC template while keeping the live set sharp and direct. Led by frontman Freddy Cricien, a constant through shifting lineups, Madball today rallies around Cricien with Mike Justian, Mike Gurnari and Brendan Porray, etching out a set that balances speed, weight and call-and-response energy.
Sharing the bill, Combust carry the mid-2010s New York relay with a sound that draws on late 80s and early 90s NYHC, trimmed down to fast tempos, a locked-in groove and riffing that hits straight. The Void EP (2018) put them on the map, followed by Another Life (2019), which tightened their writing without sanding off the raw edges. On stage, the band channels frustration, loss and personal resilience into terse, chant-ready songs built for movement, updating the NYHC vocabulary while keeping it lean and true to form.
